How to Become a RhoGAM Donor

If you live in the Buffalo, NY area and meet certain qualifications, you may be able to help us save babies’ lives by donating plasma.

RhoGAM® is made from plasma donated by a special group of committed RH-negative women and men at Somerset Laboratories near Buffalo, NY.

Not all Rh-negative men and women qualify for the donor program for a variety of reasons. Here are the general questions used to determine eligibility:

  1. Are you between the ages of 18 and 70?
  2. If you’re a woman, are you sterile? If so, you need to be either post-menopausal or surgically sterile by tubal ligation or hysterectomy.
  3. Can you be committed to our program? This is a long-term process and an on-going program. You may not donate blood or plasma at any other facility while in our program.
  4. Are you planning on making a permanent residence in this area?
  5. Are you available to donate during our hours of operation (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)?

If you can answer “yes” to these five questions, you’re probably an excellent candidate to help Rh-negative moms save their babies.
